Experimental investigations of a new highly ductile hold-down with adaptive stiffness for timber seismic bracing walls

چکیده
Abstract An efficient implementation of the capacity design requires high ductility combined with a low overstrength critical regions. Conventional timber connections do not generally offer such ideal combination, resulting in modest behaviour and relatively factors. Inspired by Buckling Restrained Brace new hold-down has been developed where wall directly acts as casing. The given an adaptive stiffness allowing structure to be stiff wind, while becoming more flexible case earthquake. Furthermore, local crushing members is completely avoided, could replaced after Experimental investigations were performed on specimens. results show ultimate displacement values v u,c than 30 mm cyclic test according EN12512. Eleven Cross Laminated Timber shear walls, which implemented, tested following monotonic static-cyclic tests procedures, without vertical load. A very achieved almost no strength degradation, little pinching limited overstrength.

Adaptive Negative Stiffness: a New Structural Modification Approach for Seismic Protection
As it is well known in the field of structural dynamics, by designing a ductile structure and letting the structure yield under strong earthquakes, the forces acting on the structure can be reduced to the level dictated by the yield level. However, the structure undergoes permanent displacement. In this study yielding is emulated in a structural system by adding a " adaptive negative stiffness ...
متن کاملNon-rectangular Rc Walls: a Review on Experimental Investigations
When compared to tests on reinforced concrete (RC) walls with a rectangular or barbelled crosssection, only very few tests on RC walls with open cross-section exist. Most of these walls were subjected to unidirectional or bidirectional loading along one or both of the principal axes of the wall section. It was rare that tests were done using load paths that did not follow the principal axes. Th...
متن کاملLight Steel-Timber Frame with Composite and Plaster Bracing Panels
The proposed light-frame structure comprises steel columns for vertical loads and an innovative bracing system to efficiently resist seismic actions. This seismic force resisting system consists of a light timber frame braced with an Oriented Strand Board (OSB) sheet and an external technoprene plaster-infilled slab. Steel brackets are used as foundation and floor connections. Experimental cycl...

abstract type-ii fuzzy logic has shown its superiority over traditional fuzzy logic when dealing with uncertainty. type-ii fuzzy logic controllers are however newer and more promising approaches that have been recently applied to various fields due to their significant contribution especially when the noise (as an important instance of uncertainty) emerges. during the design of type- i fuz...
15 صفحه اولBracing Stiffness and Strength in Sheathed Cold-formed Steel Stud Walls
The objective of this paper is to provide the stiffness and strength characteristics for coldformed steel stud walls stabilized by sheathing. The primary stability resistance is provided by translational (lateral) stiffness supplied at the fastener locations to the cold-formed steel studs. This paper separates the source of this translational stiffness into two parts: local and diaphragm. To an...
